Rear view mirrors, Remembrance Sunday & SAFC v Mansfield: A wonderful stroll down memory lane
The rain was belting down as I reversed off my drive. Checking the rear window for any traffic I noticed a very well-dressed, suited gentleman emerge from the house across the road. It was a split-second thing. I was drawn to this figure as he got into his car. Where...Read Full Story Sunderland A.F.C.DoncasterMemory LaneGillinghamThird DivisionBurnley F.C.Royal NavyEnglish Football LeagueRed LightsNeon LightsLiving MemoryTraffic LightsRemembrance Sunday & SAFCLawrie MacCoventryJohn MacphailGordon ArmstrongIan GreavesJimmy MontgomeryEric GatesIain HesfordColin Pascoe

Fan Letters: ‘We need to talk about Grant,’ says Peter, while Rob wants Cattermole to return!
Got something you’d like to get off your chest? Send us an email, and we’ll publish your thoughts here on the site!. Can we have an honest discussion about Grant Leadbitter starting for Sunderland? It has been apparent for months that his lack of mobility is totally at odds with the type of high pressing game we are supposed to be employing. Can I stress that Grant remains technically a good footballer and I am not questioning his desire for the team to do well but he should never start again for Sunderland under the current system. On Saturday, Winchester was asked to play out of position to accommodate him and has his worst game in weeks. Our front three are less effective and more isolated as we are literally playing another slow defender in Grant. Why Johnson didn’t start with either a Scowen or Neil in front of Power and Winchester? Grant not only impacts on tempo but seems to produce underperformance from some of the players around him. His personal statistics will be OK but he hasn’t been great for weeks and the team as a whole are usually worse.Read Full StoryStewart DonaldStatisticsSoccerPremier LeagueSunderlandO'NienSAFC Sharad Trivedy Ed 'sWinchesterRob Brown EdLeonard Gateshill EdPhilHappy Birthday LeePeter Laverick EdJohnsonSandersonGrant LeadbitterCharlie HurleyColin ToddDave WatsonLee Cattermole
