Flyers fans will surely like this about the 2020-21 schedule
In a 2020-21 season the opposite of normal, the Flyers will at least experience some normalcy with the start times of their games. Aside from the reported February outdoor game in Stateline, Nevada, the Flyers don't change time zones during their 56-game regular-season schedule. For now, the Flyers can say so long to the Western Canada and West Coast road trips that result in late-night puck drops back home in the Delaware Valley.Read Full StoryFlyersSpotifyYoutubeNevadaBruinsPuck DropThe Western CanadaEasternThe Wells Fargo CenterEast DivisionLate-night PuckTimeDecent RoutinesRoad TripsHome

Manatees Were Removed From the Endangered Species List In 2017. So Why Are So Many Still Dying?
Add manatee deaths to the list of bad things that happened in 2020. Despite the COVID-19 shutdown that may have briefly given the lumbering sea cows a break from heavy boat traffic, deaths climbed to 619 last year, according to a preliminary tally from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. That’s the second highest number in five years, behind 2018 when a lethal red tide blanketed the Gulf Coast and killed more than 200.Read Full StoryEndangered SpeciesManateesSpecies ConservationWildlife BiologistsWildlife HabitatWater ConservationWLRNThe Save The Manatee ClubBiscayne BayAdd Manatee DeathsSeagrass Die-offsBoating DeathsCoastal Power PlantsNecropsiesFederal Wildlife ManagersPatrick Rose

Eligible St. Lucie residents can sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine online
St. Lucie County residents can sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine online. Photo Getty Images With more than 80,000 St. Lucie County residents eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine , the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County (DOH-SLC) is now offering an online registration option. In addition to long-term care residents and front-line health care workers, residents 65 and older and those with high-risk medical conditions and a doctor’s authorization are eligible to receive the vaccine, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Executive Order 20-315. On Jan. 4, the DOH-SLC website included a link to a vaccine request form, which can also be accessed here . “Our COVID-19 vaccine clinics are fully booked. While we are encouraged to see a high demand for persons to get vaccinated, our appointment line is currently overwhelmed,” reads the form which then asks for the resident’s name, birth date, contact information, and St. Lucie county address. It also states that anyone completing the form does not need to re-submit the form or call the hotline. St. Lucie County residents wanting to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are also encouraged to register with Alert St. Lucie here to be notified when vaccines are available. On Jan. 4, DeSantis outlined four new actions the state is taking to increase the speed of the vaccine rollout. These include identifying state-run COVID-19 testing sites that can be converted into vaccine sites, identifying places of worship and other locations in underserved communities where the vaccine may be administered, hiring 1,000 contract nurses to support vaccination efforts at public and private sites, and having the Florida Division of Emergency Management assume additional responsibilities regarding the vaccine administration in Florida’s 3,000-plus assisted living facilities. One Port St. Lucie assisted living facility reported that the date scheduled for its currently quarantined residents to receive the first vaccine was a full month away, on Feb. 5. Online registration is not currently available in Indian River or Martin counties, however, during a Jan. 2 press conference, Carol Ann Vitani, Martin County health officer, said a statewide system was being worked on. Mexico approves AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine for emergency use Monday, hoping to spur a halting vaccination effort that has only given about 44,000 shots since the third week of December, about 82% of the doses the country has received. The Pfizer vaccine had been the only one approved for use in Mexico, until Mexican regulators approved the AstraZeneca shot Monday. Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard wrote in his Twitter account Monday that “the emergency approval for the AstraZeneca vaccine is very good news ... with this, production will begin very soon in Mexico!”A Mexican firm has arranged to do part of the finishing and packaging of the vaccine.Assistant Health Secretariat Hugo López-Gatell said he erroneously reported approval for Chinese vaccine maker CanSino, noting it had not yet submitted full study results for safety and efficacy.Mexico has pinned much of its hopes on the inexpensive, one-shot CanSino vaccine. “It will makes things a lot easier for us,” López-Gatell said. The Mexican Social Security Institute also released more information about a doctor in northern Mexico who had such a severe allergic reaction to the Pfizer vaccine last week that she was hospitalized in intensive care. The doctor suffered difficulty breathing, brain inflammation and convulsions a half-hour after getting the shot. Experts are running tests to determine whether she suffered a rare inflammation of the spinal cord called transverse myelitis. She is reportedly recovering.López-Gatell, who heads up efforts to deal with the pandemic, had to explain why he was spotted at a Pacific coast beach, apparently sitting at sea-side restaurant without a face mask on. López-Gatell has repeatedly counselled Mexicans to stay at home. He has also cast doubt on how whether face masks protect people from catching coronavirus.López-Gatell said he saw nothing wrong with going to the Pacific coast state of Oaxaca to see friends and relatives, noting that the virus alert level was lower there. Over the weekend, local media posted photos of López-Gatell sitting in the open-air restaurant, reportedly in the laid-back beach resort of Zipolite, in southern Oaxaca state, which has mandatory rules about face masks.President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called López-Gatell “a good public servant.” Mexico has nearly 1.45 million coronavirus cases and 127,757 deaths.“It’s a good thing that there is this scrutiny, but a public servant has rights, too,” said López Obrador.AstrazenecaMexico CityPfizerPacific CoastVaccine DosesState Of EmergencyEmergency CareAPOxfordTwitterChineseMexicansAstraZeneca VaccineMEXICO CITYMexican RegulatorsMarcelo EbrardAndrés Manuel López Obrador
