Step 2: Use a comb to create a middle part, and comb hair straight down. Step 3: Create two small triangles on both sides of your middle part toward your forehead. Tuck the rest of your hair behind your ears and gather in a scrunchie. Step 4: Comb two triangle-like sections together toward the front of your head. Step 5: Gather your center strands between your index and center strands. Eyeball how much you want to cut and bring your fingers there. Step 6: Still holding center strands with your index and middle finger, cut straight across underneath your fingers. Step 7: Split hair back down the middle and cut each on an angle from short to long. Step 8: Bring sections back together to clean up any undesired unevenness. Step 9: Create middle part again and make two bigger triangular sections on each side just past your eyebrow. Step 10: Cut each section on an angle from short to long. Tip: If you prefer to use a razor, hold section and slither strands downward. Step 11: Comb both sections together again and clean up any unevenness with your scissors. Tip: Cut an an upward motion rather than straight across. Step 12: Split hair back down the middle. If you have medium textured hair like Atkin, use thinning shears to slightly nibble at ends. For those with fine hair, cut blunt lines. If you have medium-textured hair, take a little bit of weight out. If you have really thick hair, you should take a lot of weight out. Since posting, Atkins' video has received over 500,000 views, with many people thanking her for the demonstrations. (CNN) — In an epic cleanup effort, volunteers removed more than 9,000 pounds of trash from the Tennessee River, one of the dirtiest rivers in the country. Over the course of three days earlier this month, volunteers with Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful and Johnsonville State Historic Park rid the river of 9,208 pounds of trash, using a 25-foot aluminum work boat to traverse the river and clean shorelines, a news release stated. "That's how the change for our river will happen: through local partners and individuals who are eager about taking ownership to protect and improve their beautiful river community," said Kathleen Gibi, executive director of Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful. "It's been truly inspiring for us to see these change makers take action -- especially with the local leadership from Johnsonville State Historic Park."The team led another cleanup in October, when they collected 4,811 pounds of trash. And there's still more to be cleaned; the team is planning another event in April and aims to collect 100,000 pounds of trash from the river by the end of the year.The Tennessee River, a 652-mile tributary of the Ohio River, is notoriously polluted. In 2019, researchers said the river was more like a river of plastic, according to CNN affiliate WVLT, possibly with more broken down bits of plastic than any other river in the world.
